Final weekend of competitions in Lignano Sabbiadoro, where the “Uipm Youth U19 & U17 World Championships” in modern pentathlon are underway. France won gold in the U17 men’s relay, with athletes Axel Fleurot Karl Furderer finishing with 1130 points. Silver for Egypt, with Yassin Elhady and Osama Zaki (1115), bronze to Poland with Bartosz Szmytke and Krystian Trepczyk (1099). Tenth place for the Italian pair formed by Matteo Gozzoli (Sweet Team) and Mattia Bouvet (Athlion) with 1078 points, 14th place for Matteo Beggio (Torino) and Federico Visco (Farapentathlon) with 1034. 

 

Among the U19s, Matteo Bovenzi (Area 51) gained access to the final, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 11, the final day of the world championship. The other Italian national in the semifinals, Edoardo Gilioli (Avia Pervia) went out. The U19 women’s final is also scheduled tomorrow, featuring Elisa Sala (Avia Pervia). Closing the event is the U17 mixed relay. Two Italian pairs competing: Denis Agavriloaie (P.M. Ippocampo) and Annachiara Allara (Scuola Sport), already European silver medalists in Krakow, and Francesco Ascione (Junior Asti) and Alessia Canto (Avia Pervia).

 

Meanwhile, on the beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the field test of the new obstacle discipline candidate to replace horse riding after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games continues. Young athletes attending the World Championships, along with youngsters from Italian pentathlon clubs are trying out the new obstacle discipline, flanked by representatives and athletes from Asd Fiocr-Italian Federation Ocr. Immediately positive feedback for Italy, with Valentina Martinescu (Junior Asti) taking first place in the women’s event held Friday night. The test is underway at the Beach Arena in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
