Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD), 09/09/2022 – A busy day just ended at the “Uipm 2022 Youth U19 & U17 World Championships”, the Youth World Modern Pentathlon Championships being held in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD). At the “Bella Italia Efa Village” a violent thunderstorm forced the organization to change the program and postpone the U19 women’s semifinals and the subsequent U17 women’s relay. Once the clear weather returned, the competitions resumed as normal. Attending the morning competition was Silvia Salis, deputy vice president of CONI, who was welcomed by Fipm President Fabrizio Bittner and accompanied by General Secretary Filippo de’ Liguori Carino and Vice President Pierluigi Giancamilli, who also visited the facilities and met with Uipm (Union internationale de pReturning to the competition Elisa Sala (Avia Pervia) was the protagonist in the semifinals. The athlete from Modena finished fifth in the “B” group, centering access to the final, scheduled for Sunday, September 11. Nothing to do for Sara Forti (Nice 55) and Teresa Gioia (Pentafiano). In the U17 women’s relay, however, Valentina Ibba (Avia Pervia) and Elena Petricca (Pentafiano) finished in 15th place. Gold for the Egyptians Sarah Mohamed and Ganah Elgindy who beat their compatriots Ritage Ramadan and Farida Khalil at the photo finish, thus stealing the podium from them. Silver for Germany’s Nadja Farmand and Amelie Trei, bronze to Great Britain with Zoe Spokes and Elizabeth Ryan.

 

Finally, in the afternoon, the fencing Ranking Round valid for the U19 men’s semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, took place: Matteo Bovenzi (Area 51) finished with 205 points, Edoardo Gilioli (Avia Pervia) at 200. Also scheduled tomorrow is the U17 men’s relay, which will see the two Italian pairs formed by Matteo Gozzoli (Sweet Team) and Mattia Bouvet (Athlion), Matteo Beggio (Torino) and Federico Visco (Farapentathlon) competing.
